Friday night. Date night at home. Candlelit dinner near the crackling fire, cloth napkins, flowers in a glass vase, pretty dishes, something special for dessert, and no calorie counting – just food so delicious you can’t hold in that big sigh.

Puffy Omelette
As a child, I was aware of what it meant to be frugal. My grandmother would patch holes in plastic bread bags so she could use them for months. My sisters and I were encouraged to put money into “the trip fund” instead of buying something superfluous like potato chips. Mom sewed all of our clothes – even underwear – and hand-me-downs were commonplace.
Frugality may very well be hereditary.
Herbed Chicken with Maple and Irish Whiskey Glaze
Oh yeah! This chicken has it all! The three S’s — Sweet. Savoury. Spicy. And to top it off, it’s darned delicious! Glazed with maple syrup and Irish whiskey, it even has won the approval of an incomprehensibly lovely Italian!

“Kristina i Köket” is still waiting to be picked up by Swedish television 😄, but I have certainly enjoyed days of shopping, visiting friends, and sharing delicious meals with my daughter in Sweden.
