Late summer. Dog days. August doldrums. State Fair time. Sangrias! While in Trader Joe’s this past week, one of the employees told me about this fruity, tasty blend. I had never tried “to the power of seven” juice, but this gave me a good reason to purchase a bottle.
Sangria might just be the national beverage of Spain, but Portuguese people love it too, according to the internet. 🙂 Basically, sangria is a lot of fruit with some sweetener and wine. Simple enough!
There is absolutely NO need to add sweetener to this! In fact, because of how naturally sweet the juice is, I added lime to perk it up.
“To the power of seven” is a blend of all these juices:
- pomegranate
- tart cherry
- black mulberry
- red grape
- purple carrot
- cranberry
- blueberry
That’s it! So, to turn antioxidant-laden juice into sangria – pack a tumbler with frozen berries, squeeze a lime over the fruit, then add half juice and half red wine (such as pinot noir).
It’s a little like drinking vitamins. Delicious vitamins!
So, grab a book and your favourite somebody, and get outdoors! Enjoy sipping sangria and soaking in these final days of summer.
