Italian Seasoning Blend

Spice blends are so simple to make at home, and allow you the freedom to adjust flavours according to your likes and dislikes. I don’t happen to care for the spice blends sold at the grocery store, and I sometimes question how fresh they are.

I purchase spices in bulk from a wholesale food distributor, or in small quantities from the local co-op. This Italian seasoning contains no salt, but adds fantastic brightness and flavour. Either grind them up with a mortar and pestle, or use a spice mill. Just make sure you stir or shake before measuring, since things settle.

This seasoning blend is used at least weekly in our house. I have basically swapped out bread for cauliflower waffles, and this italian sausage soup is frequently requested. Who can resist ravioli soup on a blustery day? Of course, pasta sauce benefits from a healthy dose of seasonings, and it’s never better than with roasted veggies of all shapes and sizes. Be creative! Channel your inner Italian, and make something tasty today!
