Description
Quick and easy, with ingredients from the fridge and pantry. A perennial favorite with our family.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 – 12 ounce cans tuna packed in water, drained and flaked
- 1/2 cup real mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup very finely chopped celery
- 1/4 tsp celery salt
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 4 large hamburger buns
Instructions
- Combine the mayonnaise with the celery salt, salt, and pepper, making sure it is well combined, then stir in the flaked tuna, finely chopped celery, and grated cheese.
- Slice the buns in half, and place on a rimmed baking sheet. Divide the tuna mixture among the buns, (use additional buns, if you cannot get the jumbo sized) Top with additional cheese, if desired.
- Preheat broiler – mine only takes about 3 minutes to preheat. If you have hi and lo broiler temperatures, use the low setting.
- Put the pan on the highest rack, or about 4-6 inches from the broiler element. Broil until the topping is bubbling and the cheese is melty. Watch carefully! These can go from just beginning to bubble to scorched in just seconds.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
Schär makes the most incredible gluten free ciabatta rolls. Split in half, topped with this tuna mixture, and broiled for a few minutes is absolute heaven.
