Dumlekakor – Swedish Chocolate/Toffee Cookies

Kids in the kitchen?!? Definitely NOT one of my special gifts. When my kids were little, I preferred getting the kitchen work done as quickly as possible, and with as little mess as possible. Definitely not “Mother of the Year” stuff!

My friend Anita deserves “Mother of the Year” consideration for having two adorable, wiggly, messy, squirrely, precious little boys in the kitchen with her! And the tiara awarded such motherly perseverance and patience will be twice a large because Anita does this at the cabin. On vacation. In preparation for a 7 year old’s birthday party. This is beyond comprehension for me!

Every country has special treats – those candies and cookies that just cannot be purchased elsewhere. Dumle is a chocolate covered toffee candy made by Fazer that I have yet to find an American equal. However, they are frequently sold at IKEA stores and specialty delis.

Noblesse is manufactured by Marabou, and is an ultra-thin, crispy, chocolaty wafer that tempts with a little crunch before melting in your mouth.

Because of the special ingredients required, this recipe will remain untranslated for my Swedish friends to make and enjoy. The recipe itself comes from this cookbook:

Here is the recipe to enjoy:

  • 200 g smör
  • 3 dl mjöl
  • 1 dl socker
  • 1 tsk bakpulver
  • 24 kolor – typ Dumle
  • 24 tunna bitar choklad – typ Noblesse

1. Blanda samman alla deg ingredienser och låt stå i några minuter

2. Dela i 24 bitar, rulla degen i kulor och lägg i aluminiumfolieformar ställda på en plåt

3. Tryck ner en Dumlekola i varje form

4. Grädda i 200c i 10 minuter

5. Snabbt lägg Noblesse mitt på varje kaka
